Chapter 45: Beast God’s Envoy, Little Hedgehog

When Jing was a young lion cub, he was curious and once tried to catch one of these animals in the forest. His paw was pricked by the quills and didn’t heal for several days.

He still remembered that feeling clearly, even now.

Seeing this yellow Little Hedgehog standing there with its paws open, seemingly wanting to be hugged, Jing was thinking about how to politely refuse.

    “Touch paws, okay?”

“Father, do you really not love Jiujiu anymore…?”

The Little Hedgehog sitting there was so angry that it curled into a ball, its quills all bristling. Because it was so round, it rolled once, leaving Jing with an indescribable feeling.

He wanted to comfort it, but he really didn’t dare to hug it.

    “But you have quills.”

“My quills are good quills, they won’t prick Father.”

Jiujiu mumbled there, assuring his father that he would never prick his dad with his quills; he wasn’t that kind of bad bird.

    “Alright.”

Jing placed it in his palm. After all, it was just a prick; at most, it would hurt for two days, which wasn’t a big deal and shouldn’t affect his hunting.

When Jiujiu sat in his father’s palm, the curled ball unraveled, and he grinned at his father. Being a Little Hedgehog was different from being a bird; it felt a bit strange.

“See, I told you they were good quills.”

It wasn’t that it didn’t hurt, but Jiujiu was too small, and he had no intention of attacking.

Jing’s palms, accustomed to years of hunting, had developed a thin layer of calluses, which was why he didn’t feel any pain now.

    “You’re too small, I can’t hug you.”

“Then, Father, give Jiujiu a kiss.”

Jiujiu leaned in. Jing had just seen him curl into a ball and roll, so he couldn’t refuse now. He lowered his head and gave him a very light kiss.

    “Okay.”

After the kiss, Jiujiu stood up, remembering the fruits on his quills. He turned his back to his father and proudly showed all his fruits to him.

“Father, which one do you like to eat?”

“I don’t like to eat fruits.”

Jing was a very powerful beastman. He needed sufficient food to ensure he had enough strength when hunting.

Fruits were so small; although they looked tiny and cute, they couldn’t fill his stomach at all and were of little use to him.

“Eat one, Jiujiu specifically brought it for Father.”

Jing saw that if he continued to refuse, Jiujiu would directly hand the fruit to his face, so he could only pick one to taste.

“Are you the Beast God’s Emissary?”

The moment he heard this, Jiujiu almost instinctively wanted to retort.

He was not some Beast God’s Emissary; he was clearly his father’s most thoughtful, invincible divine bird little baby.

Before answering, he remembered Star Lord’s instructions before he came to this world. He quickly changed his words, nodded, and replied:

“Yes~ I know everything Father wants to know.”

“I’m going out to hunt. Are you staying here, or coming with me?”

Jing himself preferred Jiujiu to stay in the cave. Such a small hedgehog, once hunting officially began, he wouldn’t be able to look after it. If it fell and was stepped on by another beastman, it would probably be gone.

Feeling a bit tired from talking so much with his father, Jiujiu crawled out of his palm. He glanced at the very strong sunlight outside and felt a desire to retreat.

“Jiujiu will wait here for Father to come back. Father, remember to bring Jiujiu the most beautiful flower.”

    “Okay.”

Jiujiu was reluctant to admit that he was just afraid of the sun. In this world, when his father transformed into human form, his skin was wheat-colored, and his arms had very smooth muscle lines.

One punch, and a Little Hedgehog his size would cry for at least a long time.

After Jing left the cave, Jiujiu wandered around inside. The cave was still a bit crude.

As soon as he arrived in this world, he already knew the way beastmen lived. Most tools were not utilized, and even the food they caught was eaten by one person, then the next.

Jiujiu thought about that scene and instinctively shook his head, trying to banish it from his mind.

In this world, he was just a simple, innocent, vegetarian Little Hedgehog.

Jiujiu had always had high standards for his own life. For a cave like this, with drafts and sand blowing in, he felt he needed to urge his father to renovate it.

He firmly kept this in mind, planning to teach them how to use tools when his father returned in the evening.

Jiujiu found a very sharp and hard stone in the cave. He felt, by instinct, that this stone could definitely cut meat.

If he weren’t afraid of pain, he would even want to try it with his own paw.

When Jing was hunting outside today, he mentioned this matter to the beastmen who went out with him. Soon, the news spread, and the faces of the beastmen in the tribe were filled with excitement.

Blessed by the Beast God, their Sky Tribe would definitely become the strongest tribe.

“Chief, what does the Beast God look like?”

Jing didn’t remember what the Beast God looked like, and now when his tribesmen asked, he didn’t know how to answer.

“I can’t see the Beast God’s face, but the Beast God’s Emissary is currently resting in my cave. He is a very small yellow hedgehog, very cute.”

Aside from the slight problem of liking to be hugged and kissed, Jing liked everything else about him.

With the allure of the Beast God’s Emissary, the speed of these beastmen in hunting today was unprecedentedly fast.

They wished they could finish hunting immediately and go back to see what the Beast God’s Emissary looked like.

After getting enough prey, on the way back, Jing saw a lively little rabbit. Usually, he wouldn’t bother catching such animals; they were too weak, not even enough to fill a tooth gap.

But seeing how small that Little Hedgehog was, he probably couldn’t bite into large prey. Jing killed a rabbit and casually placed it on his back.

Just as he was about to see the tribe, he remembered that he had forgotten another very important thing: the Beast God’s Emissary said he wanted him to bring the most beautiful flower.

For Jing, such a request was completely normal, as long as he was willing to stop asking for hugs.

He casually picked a small pink flower. His paws were too big, and his lion form looked very imposing. Before he had walked two steps, the flower had already been crushed underfoot.

After two attempts, Jing saw that there was only one flower left. He threw all the prey to his companions, transformed into his human form, and picked the last one.

“Chief, when did you develop such a taste?”

“The Beast God’s Emissary said he wanted it.”

A tiger nearby had just been thinking that the chief didn’t look like someone who liked flowers at all, especially such a small, pink flower, which completely mismatched the chief’s temperament.

The Little Hedgehog had wandered around the cave many times, watching the sun set and the light turn orange-yellow, anxiously wiggling his short legs.

If he had known it would take so long, he would have gone with his father. Staying in the cave by himself, though not tiring or sunny, was truly boring.

In this world, there were no cartoons for him to watch either.

Before Jiujiu could finish regretting, he heard a commotion outside, and instinctively felt it might be his father returning.

Jiujiu wanted to go greet him, but he didn’t know the way, so he could only sit there and wait.

A Little Hedgehog lay there, propping his head with his two paws, his quills gently swaying with his joyful mood.

All the way, Jing felt an indescribable sense of frustration and discomfort. For him, if it was about hunting, he had no problem at all and didn’t find it difficult.

But if it was about holding such a fragile little flower, it was even more troublesome than hunting.

He was afraid it would fall, and afraid he would crush it. He had just seen that this was the last one; if it was gone, that Little Hedgehog wouldn’t have a little flower.

Finally, he returned to the cave and saw the little yellow hedgehog waiting for him there, so he handed over the flower.

“Thank you, Father. To reward Father, Jiujiu wants to hug Father.”

Jing’s lips, which had slightly curved at his praise, now stiffened.

The Little Hedgehog saying thank you was cute, but the reward afterward was truly unnecessary.

“Are you willing to come out with me and meet the other beastmen in the tribe?”

Jiujiu, who was playing with the little flower, heard this and thought about it carefully, still feeling quite unwilling.

Even his own father, who looked quite handsome, had a somewhat rugged appearance after transforming from a lion to a human, not to mention the beastmen who were not as good-looking as his father.

Even just thinking about it, Jiujiu felt a little scared.

    “No, Jiujiu has Social Anxiety.”

    “Hmm?”

Previously, Jing had no problem communicating with this Little Hedgehog, but now, the words that came out of his mouth made Jing not understand their meaning.

“Well, Jiujiu is afraid of crowded places.”

“Never mind, never mind, Jiujiu is suddenly not afraid anymore.”

Anyway, they would meet sooner or later. Jiujiu convinced himself of this in his heart, and his inner fear successfully faded quite a bit.

Although he was now a hedgehog, he still retained some habits from when he was a little bird. After standing up, he shook the quills on his body.

“Father, I don’t want to walk.”

Jiujiu looked at the ground, then at his father standing there, and extended his small paw, signaling his father to come and carry him.

He was so small; if he really had to walk, it would probably be dark by the time he got there.

    “Okay.”

Jing didn’t transform into a lion. He initially thought it would hurt, but he quickly found a way. Stroking the hedgehog’s fur, when he placed it in his palm, he truly felt nothing.

But occasionally, this Little Hedgehog would move, and at that time, he had to be careful to avoid it.

Jiujiu loved watching the sunset. The sunlight fell on his quills, making Jiujiu instinctively raise his head, squinting his eyes and basking in the evening sun.

After enjoying it enough, he opened his eyes and suddenly saw a particularly large snake appear in front of him, scaring Jiujiu so much that he instantly stood up, and all the quills on his body bristled with an intention to attack.
