Absolute Protagonist C09
by MarineTLThe Genius Deduction Method 9
University A is a nationally renowned top institution, located in the most bustling university town of the imperial capital.
In September, Chu Si came to the imperial capital alone. As soon as he walked out of the airport, he immediately saw the young man who had come to pick him up. The man looked about twenty-three or twenty-four years old, wore gold-rimmed glasses on his nose, exuding a gentle, refined aura.
“Hello, are you Chen Mo? I’m Song Yiyuan. Professor Song sent me to pick you up.”
“That’s me.” Chu Si exchanged glances with him and smiled, “Thank you for the trouble, senior.”
The young man who identified himself as Song Yiyuan was actually Professor Song’s grandson, and also a current master’s student in the finance department of University A.
Originally, Chu Si didn’t plan to trouble Professor Song, but for some reason, his recent performance seemed to have greatly impressed the professor, who insisted on sending his grandson to pick him up. Chu Si had no choice but to agree.
Having someone to help indeed made things a lot easier. Under Song Yiyuan’s guidance, Chu Si quickly completed all formalities and gained an understanding of University A.
After thanking Song Yiyuan, he dragged his luggage into the male dormitory. The room number was 201, and when Chu Si arrived, it was still empty, with only four clean beds.
Chu Si casually chose a bed near the window, made the bed, and was sorting out his things when the door behind him was pushed open. A slightly chubby boy peeked in, “Hello, I’m Xu Yiming, a local from the imperial capital.”
“Chen Mo, from Shencheng, H Province.”
As they spoke, two more boys entered one after another and soon introduced themselves.
The tall, thin boy with glasses, Ren Hong, was also from another province, while the remaining boy, Sun Xingyu, was local to the imperial capital. However, unlike Xu Yiming, he carried an indescribable arrogance about him, and a brief conversation quickly trended towards awkwardness.
Though Chu Si was consistently warm and polite, Xu Yiming and the others also felt somewhat subconsciously restrained. When they learned of Chu Si’s status as a specially admitted student and his scores, they suddenly realized, perhaps this was the aura of a top scholar!
On the side, Sun Xingyu watched the other three chat unhappily, especially noticing how those two roommates looked at Chu Si with admirative expressions. He turned his head away, slightly displeased, and let out a light snort.
And so, Chu Si started his life at University A.
The first two weeks were for military training, and for Chu Si, who had never experienced anything like it before, everything was novel.
The only somewhat odd thing was that during every break, his roommate, who seemed to prefer solitude, would always bring various difficult problems to ask for his help. Every time Chu Si effortlessly provided an answer, the other would look frustrated, awkwardly thank him, and leave with a cold expression.
After experiencing these two weeks, Chu Si rented a room near the school and decided to move out, since the dorm was inconvenient for him, and many of his plans couldn’t be realized there.
“You’re moving out?” Sun Xingyu had just returned to the dorm and was surprised to hear the news. He looked at the young man dragging a suitcase beside him, frowning tightly.
Chu Si nodded, “The dorm isn’t very convenient.”
“Um, you…” Sun Xingyu furrowed his brows in frustration, unable to speak.
He had grown up being called a genius, only to find an even more impressive “genius” among his dormmates on day one at the school. These days, he kept finding excuses to provoke him, while the other seemed to think he was genuinely asking for help with problems, seriously solving them with a nonchalant air that made Sun Xingyu nearly vomit blood.
Sun Xingyu was determined not to lose! He decided to stick it out to the end!… But now, the other was leaving halfway?
“Sun Xingyu, are you worried about not being able to ask Chen Mo questions if he leaves?” Xu Yiming seemed to see through his struggle and jokingly added, “It’s fine. You can ask in the classroom during the day. I don’t think Chen Mo will mind, right?”
“That’s right. It’s natural for classmates to help each other,” Chu Si said with a gentle curve of his eyes, his increasingly prominent features shining as if sunlight poured from them, “Don’t feel embarrassed~”
Sun Xingyu: “…”
…Oh for heaven’s sake, couldn’t you tell I’ve been provoking you all along? Can’t you give a bit of basic respect to your opponent?!
[Hahaha—] On the way out of the dorm, System 666 laughed so hard it nearly rolled over in the system’s space, [That guy’s frustrated face was so funny. I can’t believe you didn’t notice he was provoking you!]
“Eh, you actually noticed?” Chu Si’s tone was surprised. This usually naive system got it right for once; could it have been influenced by him?
System 666 immediately became unhappy, puffing up in a corner.
…That tone of surprise, what’s with that? It feels like I’m being disliked orz.
Night fell.
In a special apartment in a community near the university town, Chu Si was streaming from his computer. Over time, his study livestream had become one of the most popular ones on the entire platform. The content of his streams, initially focused solely on theoretical knowledge, gradually began to incorporate practical elements.
In the apartment, his specially isolated workspace was filled with various mechanical parts. Several peculiar-looking mechanical products were scattered in the corners of the room.
An ugly mechanical dog with a tail was pacing back and forth, covered in odd mechanical chains. Patches of white and gray fur peeked out from under the chains, and its walking pace was painfully slow. All of this was exposed in front of the livestream camera without any concealment.
As usual, Chu Si did not show his face and explained some theoretical knowledge. Then he reached for the scattered tools on the side table, his voice calm and steady: “Speaking of classic textbook experiments, I suddenly had a bit of inspiration. Let’s try to put it into practice now…”
His long, fair hands, as flawless as the finest art, were now handling the seemingly incompatible electronic components with incredible dexterity, assembling them with a fluidity that made the whole process as graceful as a dance.
The chat began to flood with messages as usual.
666, the streamer’s hand speed is getting faster! Scary scary.
If I’m not mistaken, this seems to be the 17th time the streamer suddenly had a burst of inspiration, making some kind of impressive invention. Emmmm, is this really a study stream or a tech stream?
Ha, just another guy showing off a high IQ genius persona? Who knows if these are just gimmicky things to fool people?
Yeah. That ugly mechanical dog, isn’t that supposed to be one of the streamer’s little inventions? So eye-burning, even if it were free, I wouldn’t want it!
Some skeptics started spamming the chat with disbelief, garnering agreement from others. After all, Chu Si’s acts were indeed quite unbelievable.
As the chat buzzed with debate, a bark suddenly interrupted them. Everyone’s attention was caught.
They watched as that ugly mechanical dog, which had been lazily dragging its tail while patrolling, suddenly leaped with a speed almost too fast for the human eye to follow, becoming nothing more than a black blur: “Woof!”
A loud bang echoed from the living room, followed by the clanking sound of chains being dragged.
What happened? This sluggish, old mechanical dog could move so fast?
I bet this ugly contraption must have malfunctioned. Looks like the streamer’s act is about to fall apart!
…Was it just me, or did I hear a scream? Did something happen outside?
Underneath the camera, the hands assembling electronic components remained astonishingly steady, showing no signs of pausing or trembling.
“Don’t worry,” Chu Si said, ignoring the provocations in the chat, with a hint of amusement in his voice, “Seems like we have a surprise today.”
Barely after he spoke, the ugly mechanical dog shuffled back into view, this time dragging a person behind it. The chains previously wrapped around its body extended backwards, forming a set of intricate shackles that tightly bound the person’s limbs. The captive struggled desperately, but could only produce muffled cries due to a gag over his mouth.
“Woof!” The mechanical dog, once moving like an old man, suddenly turned back and barked, transforming from a seemingly feeble creature to a remarkably competent one.
The iron chains tightened with a clatter, securing the man even more firmly.
For a moment, the audience in the livestream was utterly bewildered, unable to comprehend what was happening.
Until someone tentatively posted a comment: Doesn’t this person look familiar?
Yeah, really familiar. [Furrowing brows, feeling there’s more to it than meets the eye.jpg]
…I remember now, isn’t this the notorious fugitive from S Province? The one with a reward notice still circulating online!
Following a long silence, the chat was flooded with a barrage of comments.
Chilling, what was this fugitive doing at the streamer’s place? Thank goodness our clever little gray caught him!
Emmmm, if I recall, this robber is supposedly a Muay Thai expert, capable of thwarting over ten police officers blocking his way. Although they weren’t armed, that’s still pretty impressive…
Yet this Muay Thai expert was caught by a mechanical dog. Considering it only took a few minutes, it’s fair to say he got absolutely beaten…
Hmm… seriously, upon closer inspection, Little Gray isn’t ugly at all, it’s actually kind of cute~ That burst of speed a moment ago was truly impressive, I’d love to have one!
Want one . Is the streamer looking for a girlfriend who can cook, warm the bed, and shower them with compliments? I won’t ask for a salary, just give me a Little Gray like that!
Lack a boyfriend, perhaps? I don’t need a Little Gray. Just let the streamer give me one of those random, inconspicuous little inventions : )!
In mere moments, most viewers fell in love with Little Gray, turning from critics to adoring fans, shamelessly showering praise.
Chu Si ignored the comments and directly shut down the stream, taking out his phone to report the incident to the police.
Unbeknownst to him, the brief few minutes of live footage had already been clipped by an up-and-coming content creator and uploaded online, rapidly gaining traction.
With sensational titles like #Outrageous! Fugitive Captured by a Dog…# circulating online, countless people couldn’t resist clicking in. Shortly, a flood of new fans swarmed into Chu Si’s stream.
[Meow meow meow, what’s happening? Suddenly so much faith power coming in, also time-space energies due to timeline shifts…]
Since getting into the online gaming world, System 666 had been addicted to web games—how could such an advanced intelligent entity become so obsessed with ordinary data-driven web games?
System 666 reveled amidst the vast yet shallow faith energies, playfully rolling over. Drawing on recent experiences with third-rate online games, this data-enthusiastic system amusingly reframed faith power, time-space energy, and the luck bounty into a brand new term—Legendary Value, and even mimicked a game system:
[Ding—Congratulations, host, Legendary Value +1.]
