Absolute Protagonist C02

The quiet small room was in complete disarray, with tables and chairs scattered all over the floor. A man lay on the ground, his collar stained with blood.
Next to him, the young man put down his phone and leisurely leaned against the mottled wall, his long eyelashes drooping as he seemed lost in thought.
As time passed, the faint sound of a police siren began to ring in the distance.
The boy, who had been quietly sitting on the floor, slightly turned his head. His deep, tranquil eyes rippled for a brief moment, and his fingers, hanging at his side, subtly twitched. A flash of cold light flickered and disappeared.
Whoosh!
A triangular shard of glass shot from the boy’s fingers, tracing a curved path through the air, swiftly and accurately stabbing into the man’s arm as he lay unconscious.
“Ah!” The sudden pain jolted the man awake, sitting up as if he were a stiff fish.
Meanwhile, the previously indifferent boy had quickly shrunk back to the corner of the wall, crouching down with his hands over his head, shivering in fear.
The man, who had been awakened in this unconventional manner by Chu Si, was momentarily stunned. He finally realized what had happened when he saw the boy trembling in the corner. This scene, which had played out countless times before, caused him to instinctively march forward with a vicious glare. “You little brat, what the hell are you doing again? I haven’t even settled accounts with you yet…”
At this moment, a wave of intense pain radiated from his neck, causing veins to bulge on his forehead, and his bloodshot eyes looked particularly ferocious. But the searing pain reminded him of Chu Si’s cruel methods before he fainted.
The man froze in his tracks, a faint sense of panic creeping up his chest. “You—” What’s going on?
“No! Don’t hit me! I… I’ve already called the police…”
The boy, still curled up in the corner with his hands over his head, suddenly cried out, his tone a mixture of helplessness and panic, even with a trace of courage that was barely perceptible. Anyone who heard it would have undoubtedly felt sympathy for him.
Just then, the door, which had been left slightly ajar, was pushed open, and several police officers rushed in. They immediately saw the weak and pitiful boy in the corner and the man, with a murderous expression, advancing toward him. The man’s heavy stench of alcohol and his bloodshot eyes contrasted sharply with the boy’s pale, terrified face and clear, timid eyes.
The lead female officer immediately barked, “Don’t move, police!”
“Po-Police?” The man froze completely, still confused about how his son, who seemed possessed by an evil spirit moments ago, had suddenly reverted to his original weak self. Before he could figure it out, he was forcefully restrained and thrown to the ground by the officers.
Chu Si, who had been crouched in the corner, cooperatively looked up, his bloodied face fully exposed to the officers. Upon seeing them, his dim eyes suddenly brightened, and his lips moved slightly.
The next second, the pale boy’s body swayed before collapsing to the ground.
…
System 666 stared in shock as the drama unfolded. It helplessly watched as the female officer rushed forward, her face anxious, and the others hastily carried the host onto an ambulance, while Father Chen was led away for interrogation. A shimmering light orb in the system space trembled in fear.
【This is terrifying (!QAQ), humans are so insidious——】
“…Oh?” A faint ripple of consciousness emerged.
【No, no, no, what I meant was that the host is really too clever! To have learned to use the rules of this world so quickly…】
Facing the system 666, which had instantly turned timid, Chu Si chuckled to himself, showing no remorse for having trapped Father Chen. After all, the original Chen Mo truly lost his life in this brutal beating. If it weren’t for his arrival, the police would have likely found Chen Mo’s corpse, and Father Chen would have been arrested as a murderer. Now, the way he handled it was actually very kind.
The injuries to this body were not fake, and as his mind wandered, Chu Si began to feel the exhaustion creep in. His brain became increasingly sluggish until, eventually, he lost consciousness.
When he awoke again, three days had passed. As soon as his eyes opened, he was greeted by a sea of white: a white ceiling, white walls, white sheets, and doctors and nurses in white coats rushing in and out. He was lying in a hospital bed, his head wrapped tightly in bandages.
With the memories of Chen Mo, Chu Si was not unfamiliar with this world. He curiously surveyed his surroundings. A young female officer in uniform quickly entered. Upon seeing Chu Si looking around, her eyes lit up. “Little brother, you’re awake? How do you feel?”
Chu Si obediently nodded, staying silent as he mimicked the original’s behavior.
Xu Meng wasn’t offended. Instead, her gaze toward the boy softened. She had learned some of Chen Mo’s past and understood why he had developed such a personality.
Chen Mo had irresponsible parents: one a gambler with a penchant for alcohol and a tendency for domestic violence, and the other had run off with someone when he was only three years old. Chen Mo grew up under his father’s violence and was forced to drop out of school after graduating middle school three months ago. He had been working odd jobs to make ends meet. He silently endured all of this. To be honest, it was already remarkable that he had managed to call the police on his own this time.
Xu Meng thought about the scene at the police station, where Father Chen had caused a commotion and refused to cooperate, and her brows furrowed slightly.
Chu Si, noticing her mood, asked, “Sister, are you here to take my statement?”
Xu Meng snapped out of her thoughts and nodded hurriedly, “Yes, yes, I was so forgetful! If you’re feeling okay now, could you cooperate with me for a bit?”
The boy on the bed, still wrapped in bandages and pale, obediently nodded again, his long lashes fluttering slightly, making Xu Meng’s heart flutter with tenderness.
This entire situation stemmed from an incident involving a girl: Xiao Mengyao, the school beauty from nearby Shen Cheng First High.
Just a few days ago, a few boys had seen the original Chen Mo and Xiao Mengyao tugging at each other in a small alley near the school. They rushed over and began beating him up. The incident quickly reached the teachers at Shen Cheng First High. Before the original could speak, Xiao Mengyao had already tearfully accused him of harassing her, despite his repeated attempts to explain.
One was an outstanding student, beautiful and well-behaved, while the other was a young laborer who had already fallen into a rough life. Naturally, the school believed Xiao Mengyao. They soon informed Father Chen, and the prideful man, furious and embarrassed, returned home and started abusing his son. This incident indirectly led to Chu Si’s arrival.
“Please believe me, Sister! I didn’t harass her! I didn’t!”
The boy on the bed spoke in a calm tone, as if narrating someone else’s story. But when he reached this point, he suddenly looked up. His pale cheeks flushed with excitement, and his black gem-like eyes fixed intently on Xu Meng.
“…I really didn’t!”
Feeling the unspoken anger and frustration from the original, Chu Si couldn’t help but clench his fist tightly.
“Okay, okay, I believe you,” Xu Meng said quickly, “Sister believes you’re not that kind of person.”
Her words weren’t a lie. After working in this field for four or five years, she had developed a sharp intuition. She could often tell whether a suspect was lying based on their facial expressions. She could tell at a glance that the boy was not lying. Unless his acting skills had become so refined that they could deceive her intuition.
Chu Si once again revealed his signature smile, a smile so sweet it made Xu Meng’s heart ache. She couldn’t help but think: How could anyone harm such a well-behaved child?
She comforted him softly, “I’ve already paid for the medical bills. Stay here in the hospital for now, and things will be sorted out soon. As for the scumbag who abused you, the law will make him pay.”
As for the small dispute between Chu Si and Xiao Mengyao, it wasn’t within her jurisdiction.
This matter was quickly resolved.
The original Chen Mo had died from a head injury after hitting the corner of a desk. His injuries were serious, and if it weren’t for Chu Si’s timely arrival, and System 666 using the last bit of energy for a minor repair, this body would have no longer been breathing. In this case, Father Chen was immediately sued for intentional injury and abuse, and was sentenced to ten years.
As for Father Chen’s claim that Chu Si had deliberately harmed and abused him, the hospital’s examination showed that the wound on his neck did not touch any arteries and was very minor. It was determined to be a defensive counterattack.
As he was being escorted out of court, Father Chen was still struggling, shouting, “It’s natural for a father to beat his son! Is it illegal for me to hit my own son?”
A cold gaze fell on him, making him suddenly tremble, and the rest of his words were swallowed. Following that gaze, he saw the boy standing silently beneath the eaves.
The boy had bandages wrapped around his head, wearing a faded T-shirt and jeans, his face pale as though still recovering from illness. But those dark eyes remained fixed on him.
The boy smiled, his lips moving soundlessly.
—I, am, waiting, for, you.
Father Chen couldn’t control his trembling.
He suddenly realized with keen insight that beneath his son’s skin, there seemed to be an evil spirit residing. Merely serving a ten-year sentence wouldn’t satisfy the boy, and more dramatic events awaited him after that.
And there was nothing he could do about it.
This man, who had vented all his frustrations on his child and found pleasure in domestic violence, finally couldn’t suppress his deep shudder.
【Heh heh, host, did you think of this all along?】
“What did you think of?” Chu Si lazily responded, his gaze leaving Father Chen’s shaking form.
【The bottle you stabbed near that person’s neck earlier successfully avoided the surrounding arteries. While it could cause pain, it wouldn’t pose any real threat to their life. Host, you must have already figured out the rules of this world and never intended to kill anyone from the start. Hehehe, Host, you’re so farsighted!】
Having followed Chu Si for over half a month, System 666 had now transformed into his ultimate fan, spouting endless praise.
“…Let’s say it’s as you think,” Chu Si replied with a strange expression. Could he admit that he never intended to kill anyone and that it was just one of his usual methods to mess with enemies? Better not scare the naïve little system for now.
After dealing with his scumbag father, the world’s fate line underwent a slight shift, and Chu Si finally earned his first bit of time-space energy. Although it was negligible, it didn’t stop System 666 from being in a great mood.
It quickly urged its Host to go and gather more energy.
“There’s no rush,” Chu Si said. “I need to deal with my schooling first.”
