Cannon Fodder Refuses C11
by MarineTLChapter 11: The Real Heir in a Fake Young Master Heartthrob Novel
Seeing Jiujiu acting so unusually, Mother Gu brought over a cup of warm water, slightly worried that he might have eaten something bad.
She had only heard that the newly opened pet hospital could treat cats and dogs, but she wasn’t sure if Jiujiu, a little chick, could be treated there.
“What’s wrong with Jiujiu?”
Shen Yijing stared at the round, lifeless little one lying in his palm and replied with a hint of uncertainty:
“Jiujiu pecked that woman’s eye to help me, and now it seems like… he doesn’t want his beak anymore.”
Mother Gu had never quite understood how her son could read emotions from Jiujiu’s fluffy face. After some thought, she could only attribute it to the bond they had developed growing up together.
But the fact that Jiujiu didn’t even want his beak anymore after pecking someone left Mother Gu at a loss for words.
“Should we wash it for him?”
“Mom, I’ve washed it many times, but Jiujiu still says he feels dirty.”
“Is Jiujiu really that clean?”
Mother Gu also felt a bit troubled. Just as Shen Yijing was about to lower his head to kiss Jiujiu’s beak, Jiujiu blocked it with his own wing.
“Dad, you can’t do that!”
Jiujiu thought that if his dad kissed his dirty beak, he would never want his dad to kiss him again, whether it was his current bottom or his future tail feathers.
Originally planning to lie on his dad to ease his sadness, Jiujiu now dragged his round body away as fast as he could.
His dad could be a dad who didn’t care about cleanliness, but Jiujiu absolutely had to be a clean little bird.
Seeing this, Mother Gu knew her son had no appetite and put away the strawberry cake.
She had known Jiujiu had many unusual habits, but this was the first time she realized his cleanliness obsession was so severe.
Jiujiu flew back to his room, deciding to calm down. The incident had left a significant psychological shadow on him, and he would need to sleep it off for a few nights to forget it.
When Jiujiu woke up and found his dad wasn’t around, he flew to the bathroom mirror and began his routine of checking his beautiful feathers.
Noticing a slightly dirty feather under his chin, Jiujiu, who had been tilting his head to admire himself, froze.
Unwilling to believe it, he leaned closer to the mirror for a better look and confirmed that one feather was indeed a bit dirty. He tried washing it with water a few times, but it wouldn’t come clean.
Jiujiu flew to the couch and sat down, calming himself before flying back to the mirror. Using his beak, he located the dirty feather, closed his eyes, and plucked it out.
He could guess it was blood from when he had pecked that woman’s eye.
To Jiujiu, the blood of such a bad person was the dirtiest thing, and it wouldn’t wash off his feathers.
If the Emperor were here, he might have been able to help Jiujiu by placing him in a special flame for a while, turning him into a clean little chick.
Phoenixes could be reborn from ashes, and once Jiujiu grew up, any flame would do.
But he was still too young, and his fluffy feathers, aside from those special flames, could easily be burned.
Fortunately, it was just a small down feather. After plucking it, Jiujiu examined it and thought his dad probably wouldn’t notice.
He had planned to bury the feather somewhere, but upon feathersther thought, he felt a bit reluctant.
After all, his feathers were valuable, and it would be a waste to throw it away.
Jiujiu flew to a cabinet, opened a drawer with his wing, and placed the new feather next to a larger one.
After finishing this, Jiujiu felt a bit tired and went to his dad’s desk to take a sip of water from his exclusive little cup.
Thinking about what he had just done, Jiujiu felt a little proud. He was truly a good chick who didn’t waste anything.
During dinner, Shen Yijing observed Jiujiu and noticed he didn’t show any signs of distress. Mother Gu brought out the strawberry cake as a dessert.
After finishing the strawberries on his own cake, Jiujiu started eyeing Shen Yijing’s.
Maybe Dad doesn’t like strawberries?
He even chirped enthusiastically, hoping his dad would remember there was a non-picky chick like him around.
Right after the chirp, Shen Yijing placed the strawberry in front of Jiujiu.
It wasn’t about whether he liked strawberries or not. To Shen Yijing, it was just a fruit, no different from others.
Besides, if Jiujiu didn’t get double strawberries, he would pretend to sleep at night and then stomp on Shen Yijing’s nose in a tantrum.
After eating the strawberry, Jiujiu patted his dad with his wing.
After a nap, Jiujiu had completely forgotten the earlier incident. Peck someone? How could such a good chick like him ever peck someone?
After Jiujiu finished a large piece of cake, Shen Yijing leaned over to look at him. Jiujiu cooperatively rolled over, exposing his round belly.
“Chirp chirp chirp.”
Mother Gu, seeing Jiujiu seemingly inviting someone to look at his belly, couldn’t help but feel surprised, even though she had already accepted Jiujiu’s uniqueness and intelligence.
“Jiujiu ate so much. Is that okay?”
Shen Yijing leaned over and gently rubbed Jiujiu’s belly. Seeing Jiujiu still happy about eating so much, he couldn’t resist tapping his head.
“Chirp!”
Shaking his wings, Jiujiu prepared to fly back.
Rubbing his belly was fine, but tapping his head? Jiujiu thought that was unacceptable.
Later, when Dad returned to the room, Jiujiu ignored him unless he was willing to give Jiujiu all the fresh strawberries and strawberry jam on the next strawberry cake.
“Are you mad?”
Shen Yijing sat on the chair and opened a cardboard box, inside of which was a very delicate wooden box.
After returning, he confessed to his mother, hoping she could help him buy back the feather he had been forced to sell.
The shop owner wasn’t exactly a ruthless person, as evidenced by the fact that he even accepted gold from a child. Upon noticing that Shen Yijing’s mother was interested in buying, he immediately doubled the price before agreeing to sell.
Shen Yijing had just taken the box handed to him by his mother downstairs and couldn’t wait to go upstairs, wanting to keep that feather together with the others.
Sitting there with his back to his father, Jiujiu, who was too embarrassed to speak up but was genuinely angry, noticed Shen Yijing heading toward the cabinet and was so startled that his feathers stood on end.
As Shen Yijing pulled open the drawer, Jiujiu’s heart almost stopped. He suddenly reacted and flew over, landing firmly on his father’s head.
