Chapter 4: The Real Heir in a Fake Young Master Heartthrob Novel

Shen Yijing looked at the little one, who seemed not to have realized what was happening, feeling a headache from his excessive generosity.

He didn’t have much feathers to begin with, yet whenever something happened, he wanted to pull out a feather.

If he kept going like this, Shen Yijing seriously suspected that one day he would end up with a chick that could be cooked directly without even plucking its feathers.

“Dad, work hard to buy me some hair growth tonic for my baths in the future.”

Jiujiu lifted his head, convinced that there was nothing his dad couldn’t do once he grew up.

“Hair growth tonic only works on the head.”

Saying this, Shen Yijing rubbed his feathersry head with his fingertip. Jiujiu instinctively rubbed against his dad, wanting to touch his head with his wings but couldn’t reach.

Actually, he thought he had quite a lot of feathers on his head, just a pity he couldn’t pull any out. Otherwise, next time he could give some head feathers to others.

Shen Yijing bent down and kissed his head. For a moment, he felt very inadequate, having such a big little one worrying about him.

Before he could think it over properly, a commotion erupted outside. Instinctively, he shoved Jiujiu under the covers.

The quarrel grew louder, followed by his mother’s screams, making Shen Yijing start to feel afraid.

Mrs. Shen was addicted to playing Mahjong every day, and Mr. Shen was a heavy drinker who had also developed a gambling addiction. He owed a lot of money, and someone had come to collect the debt.

The argument became so intense that Mr. Shen accidentally stabbed the debt collector with a knife.

Mr. Shen was completely stunned when he saw this, exchanging a glance with his wife.

“What do we do, Aimei? I don’t want to go to jail.”

Mrs. Shen quickly responded upon hearing this.

“I saw on TV before that kids who commit crimes don’t have to go to jail.”

Hearing this, Mr. Shen kicked open Shen Yijing’s room door and handed him the fruit knife.

“Be sensible and say you did it. Kids who commit crimes don’t go to jail. If your parents both go in, I want to see what you’ll do!”

The pencil Shen Yijing was holding dropped to the floor. He stared wide-eyed in disbelief.

He had always known his parents didn’t love him, but he never imagined their dislike had reached this extent.

    “I, I won’t.”

Shen Yijing instinctively wanted to refuse. He dreamed of leaving this place once he grew up.

If he had to bear this burden, his whole life would be ruined.

Without thinking, Mr. Shen raised his hand to slap Shen Yijing. Shen Yijing reacted quickly and dodged, causing Mr. Shen to stagger from missing his blow.

Seizing the opportunity, Shen Yijing immediately ran out, shouting loudly on the street:

“Someone help! Help! There’s been a murder! My parents have killed someone!”

Many people lived in this alley, mostly families with poor conditions, all crowded into one yard.

Hearing this, they all rushed out to see what was happening, and some young people called the police.

Shen Yijing ran fast to a shop he often visited. The owner had just moved in recently and was a man very passionate about fitness.

He was about 1.8 meters tall, with well-proportioned muscles and a powerful presence, looking quite intimidating.

Before the owner could greet him, he heard Shen Yijing say:

    “Uncle, please save me.”

    “What’s going on here?”

Just after asking, a man ran over. Without hesitation, the owner confronted him.

    “What do you want?”

“I’m teaching my son a lesson. What business do you have interfering here?”

After saying this, Mr. Shen pushed the owner. The owner’s temper flared, and he glared back.

“You say he’s your son, so he is? What kind of father are you? Come on, let’s go to the police station and have a paternity test done.”

Shen Yijing hid there, his heart pounding anxiously.

He didn’t want to take the blame for them. He still wanted to grow up and buy lots of things for his own little one, and he hadn’t even had the chance to properly repay Teacher Wu and many others.

As these thoughts raced through his mind, Shen Yijing happened to hear the owner say that phrase.

Paternity test? He had heard about this at Teacher Wu’s house before. Suddenly, an unbelievable guess popped into his mind.

Because it involved a homicide, the police arrived quickly and immediately sealed off the scene.

“My child acted impulsively. He saw this man bullying us and ended up stabbing him. Police, please arrest him.”

Mrs. Shen’s words made the police frown instinctively. With a cold face, they replied:

“We will investigate the facts. Ma’am, please do not disturb the scene.”

In the Shen family’s living room, the debt collector’s condition was very weak. An ambulance soon arrived and rushed him to the hospital.

Upon hearing the sirens, the owner finally brought Shen Yijing out. Mr. Shen, seeing Shen Yijing hiding behind the man, raised his fist in anger.

The owner rolled up his sleeves and stood in front of Shen Yijing, saying:

“Try to lay a hand on him. Let’s see if I can knock you down!”

The owner had just graduated recently. He came from a good family, was passionate and kind-hearted. Whenever he saw Shen Yijing hungry, he would invite him over.

Using the excuse that he couldn’t eat too many high-calorie foods due to his fitness, he saved all the nutritious food for Shen Yijing.

Occasionally, Shen Yijing liked to bring his little bird along. Besides having little feathers, it was quite cute.

The police found the fruit knife in the smallest room. It was stained with blood and carefully preserved as evidence.

Shen Yijing had a natural trust in the police. He walked up to one of the officers and, with a trembling voice, explained the truth of what had happened.

“Little one, later you’ll come with uncle to the Police Station and tell everything slowly, okay?”

Compared to the stern attitude towards Mrs. Shen, the police were much gentler when dealing with Shen Yijing.

“Uncle, can I come with you now? I’m a little scared.”

    “Alright.”

After asking, Shen Yijing ran back to his room, stuffed Jiujiu into his pocket, and together they went to the Police Station.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Shen were uneducated and knew nothing about the law; the little knowledge they had came from what they saw on TV.

They blindly believed that as long as someone was willing to take the blame, it had nothing to do with them.

The scene hadn’t been disturbed, and they quickly identified the real culprit from the fingerprints on the fruit knife. Besides that, the creditor was sent to the hospital and was rescued.

He personally identified Mr. Shen as the one who tried to kill him with the fruit knife because Mr. Shen had borrowed a large sum of money under the pretense of doing business and didn’t want to repay it.

Shen Yijing sat on the bench outside the Police Station, his hand inside his jacket pocket, feeling his little Jiujiu.

Feeling Jiujiu’s warm body temperature, his heartbeat gradually calmed down.

After the matter was handled over there, Officer Tan finally saw Shen Yijing still sitting here. He walked over, squatted down, and asked:

“Little one, how about coming with uncle to have dinner first, then uncle will take you back, okay?”

Shen Yijing jumped down from the bench, looked up at Officer Tan, and after a long pause mustered the courage to speak:

“Officer, can you do me a favor?”

“You’ve already called me ‘Officer,’ of course I can.”

Officer Tan noticed the child was overly nervous, squatted down and ruffled his hair, feeling a bit sorry for him.

In this day and age, it was still possible for parents to be so ignorant as to make their child take the blame.

“Uncle, I want to do a paternity test with my mom and dad. I think I’m not their biological child.”

At first, Officer Tan thought the child might want something to eat, but it turned out to be this. Even with his extensive experience, he was surprised.

“Little one, why do you think that?”

Jiujiu rubbed hard against his dad’s jacket pocket. If only his dad were not the only one who could hear him in this world, he would have jumped out to tell Officer Tan.

Yes, that’s right. It was that malicious couple who, back when the hospital didn’t have surveillance, swapped his dad with someone else’s child!

Although Officer Tan couldn’t hear him, as long as he was willing to help his dad, once the matter was resolved, Jiujiu was willing to pluck a feather to thank him.

No, generous Jiujiu was willing to give him two feathers!

“I think they’re not my real parents, uncle. Is that okay?”

Normally, this kind of thing wouldn’t be his concern and had nothing to do with the case.

But when Officer Tan saw the trust shining in Shen Yijing’s eyes, he couldn’t bear to refuse.

“Of course it’s okay. But for now, let’s go eat first, alright?”

    “Okay.”

The procedures for the paternity test were not complicated. Since they were at the Public Security Bureau, the results would come out quickly—probably tomorrow.

Just as Officer Tan was thinking whether to take the child home for the day, Teacher Wu hurried to the Police Station, explained her identity, and took Shen Yijing back to her home.

The next day, Teacher Wu personally brought Shen Yijing back here and waited outside.

Officer Tan held several documents and took Shen Yijing to the interrogation room.

Mr. Shen was also present. When he heard Officer Tan say the child was not his, he immediately panicked, his face changed, and he began to curse:

“It must be my wife cheating behind my back! I don’t know whose child this is!”

Officer Tan opened another file, showing that the woman also had no blood relation to Shen Yijing. This was another case entirely.

Mr. Shen’s charge of intentional injury was undeniable, and he had even tried to make the child take the blame, which was especially heinous. After the Public Security Bureau gathered evidence, results would come quickly.

Officer Tan personally followed up on the other case, found the hospital where Shen Yijing was born, and located the parents of five boys born at the same time.

The Gu family from Imperial Capital was one of them.

When they received the news, their first reaction was disbelief. Although they had indeed given birth to their son Gu Qian in that remote place while visiting a comrade, how could a mix-up have happened?

Though skeptical, they cooperated with the police investigation and took their child for a paternity test.

The final result stunned the Gu couple. They took their son Gu Qian and went to that small city to meet their biological son.

When Shen Yijing learned the news, the burden on his shoulders seemed to lift.

So it wasn’t because he was unlikable, but because they weren’t his real parents.

On the day he heard his real parents would come to find him, Shen Yijing was wearing new clothes Teacher Wu had bought for him.

Even Jiujiu had a small, delicate pink bow pinned on his chest by Teacher Wu.

“Baby, look, I will have parents who love me too.”

Jiujiu sat down on the bed, propping his neck with a pillow and supporting his head with his wings, but unlike his dad, he wasn’t optimistic.

In this world, the fake young master had the script of being the group’s darling; how could his dad compare?

Thinking of this, Jiujiu stretched out his wings, hugged his dad’s wrist, and snuggled up to him affectionately.

“You have Jiujiu. Jiujiu is even better than your mom and dad!”

Shen Yijing heard this and thought the little one was competing for affection with his parents who hadn’t appeared yet. He smiled and gently kissed his wing.

“Alright, in my heart, you will always be the most important.”

“Jiujiu has always been the most important.”

Little Jiujiu snuggled over and pecked back with his beak, proudly raising his fluffy head. Who could be more important than him, the last divine phoenix in the world?
