I hope he comes to ravish me.
    Ravish me to death

    Su Zai Zai Fairy’s Diary

Two scenes immediately flooded her mind.

In the classroom of Class One, First Year.

Zhang Lurang was lowering his head, working on a problem. Su Zai Zai sat in front of him, turned slightly to look at him.

Then she pulled out a workbook, curled her lips into a smile, and said, “Then explain this question to me.”

His hand paused mid-motion. He touched his neck and said softly, “I don’t know how.”

At the bus stop near their home, while waiting for the bus.

Su Zai Zai looked a little hesitant. “Do you have WeChat?”

Zhang Lurang hesitated for a moment, raised his hand to rub the back of his neck, and said, “No.”

Now, at this very moment, he was doing the same action again.

So what was he trying to say…

    — Not good-looking?

    — Mm.

Su Zai Zai’s face instantly burned as if it were on fire, turning completely red.

    Silence.

They stood face to face, yet neither looked at the other.

But there was an undeniable atmosphere between them, one that no one else could intrude upon.

    The surroundings were not quiet.

Aside from the hushed conversations of the backstage crew, the deep, emotional singing of a girl on stage echoed in the background.

    One note after another.

Like an ambiguous whisper lingering in the air, unwilling to dissipate.

Su Zai Zai gathered her courage and looked up.

Just as she was about to speak, she suddenly noticed a few classmates from their class standing beside Zhang Lurang, watching them with interest.

The heat on her face surged even more.

She couldn’t take it anymore. Without saying a word, she turned and walked straight toward the audience seats.

Immediately, a boy’s gossip-filled, excited voice rang out from behind.

“Hey, Zhang Lurang, is she your girlfriend?”

    Zhang Lurang remained silent.

On stage, the girl had just reached the chorus.

The lights suddenly brightened, streaming through the curtains.

    He kept his eyes lowered.

The side of his face, exposed under the lights, contrasted with the shadowed part, making his expression unreadable.

Seeing that he wasn’t answering, the boys didn’t press further and just laughed carefreely.

    “She’s a real beauty!”

At these words, Zhang Lurang finally lifted his eyes.

He let out a quiet breath of relief.

So he wasn’t the only one acting weird.

    At that moment—

He actually… found Su Zai Zai very beautiful.

Su Zai Zai returned to her seat.

Jiang Jia was chatting beside her.

She took out her water bottle from her bag and gulped down several mouthfuls in a row.

Only then did Jiang Jia notice her unusual behavior and ask curiously, “What’s up with you? You look like you’ve never had water before.”

Su Zai Zai lowered her head, covered her face, and mumbled, “Let me calm down.”

    “…Oh.”

Jiang Jia waited for a while.

A minute later, a quiet voice drifted from beside her.

“The great beauty wants me dead.”

    Jiang Jia: “…Stop being dramatic.”

“I’m serious.” Su Zai Zai’s breathing had steadied, but the blush on her cheeks remained. “He just called me pretty. I feel like I’m about to suffocate.”

Jiang Jia almost spat out the water she had just drunk.

“Holy—! Hahaha, my god! I can’t even imagine Zhang Lurang calling you pretty.”

Su Zai Zai recounted the whole scene to her.

Jiang Jia: “…Are you sure he was talking about you?”

Even though the great beauty’s words were a denial…

    His actions…

Su Zai Zai wanted to explain to her, but at the same time, she wanted to keep this secret all to herself.

Many things about Zhang Lurang—she wanted only she herself to know.

Though, the part about him touching his neck when lying was still just her guess.

… She’d test it out tomorrow.

Jiang Jia looked at her sympathetically.

“You’re probably just in shock because your great beauty got overtaken by Wang Nan. You can’t handle it—”

Hearing this, Su Zai Zai immediately turned to her.

“You must be out of your mind,” Jiang Jia concluded.

Su Zai Zai: “…Eat shit or die, pick one.”

“I don’t want to eat you, so I’ll just die then.”

    “Get lost.”

As they chatted, the host’s voice finally rang out over the speakers.

“Next, please enjoy the stage play brought to us by Class 1 of Senior Year 1, When You Get Robbed.”

Su Zai Zai immediately shut her mouth and hurriedly took out her glasses from her bag, putting them on.

The auditorium was engulfed in dim lighting.

The red curtain slowly drew open.

A boy stood in the very center of the stage.

He held up a large white poster board with four bold words written on it: I Am Very Rich.

Jiang Jia, sitting beside her, commented, “I Am Very Rich… Why doesn’t he just write Please Rob Me instead?”

    Su Zai Zai blinked.

Is this about robbing money or… robbing beauty?

That stunning beauty should be coming on stage soon, right?

    Sure enough.

Shortly after, Zhang Lu Rang stepped onto the stage.

Behind him followed five or six boys, exuding an aggressive aura.

Their exposed skin was covered in tattoo stickers.

    Su Zai Zai: “…”

Aren’t these the same boys who were just standing next to Zhang Lu Rang?

How did she not notice they had tattoo stickers earlier…?

Su Zai Zai shifted her gaze and focused on Zhang Lu Rang.

He wore a black, camouflage-patterned thin jacket over his white school uniform, hanging loosely on his frame.

His black, tousled hair fell lazily over his forehead, his dark eyes gleaming, and the corners of his lips curled in a lazy smirk.

There was an inexplicable air of wildness about him.

He scratched his head, glanced back at the “lackeys” behind him, pressed his lips together, and remained silent.

Su Zai Zai mentally filled in the blanks: There’s probably a line here, but Zhang Lu Rang can’t bring himself to say it.

At that moment, the boys simultaneously pulled out paper-made knives from their pockets and shouted in unison, “This is a robbery!”

    Su Zai Zai: “…”

She had imagined so much—fantasized about Zhang Lu Rang being the one getting robbed for so long—yet she never considered that he would actually be… the one doing the robbing.

And not just any robber—he was the leader. The boss.

Just then, a narration suddenly played through the speakers. The voice was female, clear and melodious.

“When you get robbed, you must not blindly run away.”

The actors on stage froze as if time had stopped.

“If you do, this is what will happen.”

The boy holding the poster board suddenly moved, running away with the sign.

The group of boys chased him down, capturing him and presenting him before Zhang Lu Rang.

Zhang Lu Rang stared at him expressionlessly, lifted his long leg, and lightly kicked him.

The boy immediately fell to the ground, wailing in agony.

    The scene paused again.

“You should, while ensuring your personal safety, use your wits to deal with the robber. Never provoke them.”

The boy playing dead on the ground immediately sat up, took a microphone, and pleaded, “You can have whatever you want, just please don’t hurt me!”

Zhang Lu Rang chuckled softly. “What do you think?”

The boy obediently handed over the large poster board to Zhang Lu Rang.

Zhang Lu Rang took it, carelessly tossing it behind him.

The boy then started taking off his jacket, offering it to Zhang Lu Rang.

Zhang Lu Rang repeated the same casual gesture.

Seeing that none of this was attracting Zhang Lu Rang’s interest, the boy cupped his face in his hands and batted his eyes flirtatiously at him.

    Su Zai Zai: “…”

This guy is insane! Who flirts while getting robbed?!

Jiang Jia, laughing beside her, added, “I heard Zhang Lu Rang was originally supposed to be the victim. Damn, I really wanted to see him bat his eyes like that, hahaha!”

    Batting his eyes…

Su Zai Zai wanted to see that too.

On stage, Zhang Lu Rang was silent for a moment before picking up the microphone and speaking in a low voice, “Can’t you tell?”

His voice, amplified through the speakers, was deep and magnetic, smoother than usual, sending a tingling sensation straight to Su Zai Zai’s heart, as if a thousand tiny ants were nibbling at her.

Zhang Lu Rang crouched down to meet the boy’s gaze.

A small smirk curled at the corners of his lips as he chuckled lightly. “I’m here to rob your beauty.”

A wave of suppressed screams immediately erupted from the audience.

Somewhere in the distance, a girl shouted, “Rob me instead!”

    Laughter exploded throughout the auditorium.

Jiang Jia clutched her stomach, howling, “Holy shit! Hahahaha, what kind of twist is this?! I’m dying!”

Something seemed to burst in Su Zai Zai’s mind, making her want to scream, but her throat felt like it was clamped shut, leaving her no way to vent her excitement.

So damn charming, sob sob sob.

Unable to hold back anymore, and taking advantage of the noisy crowd, she cupped her hands around her mouth and shouted, “Big beauty, I want to ravish you!”

Then she immediately chickened out, shrinking behind the seat in front of her.

Laughter rang out around her as her classmates bent over, shaking with mirth. Even Jiang Jia gave her a thumbs-up.

Su Zai Zai covered her face, thinking:

My voice cracked when I shouted… The big beauty probably won’t recognize it was me, right…?

Lost in her own world, she completely missed how Zhang Lu Rang had suddenly paused mid-line when she yelled.

After the school festival ended, students flooded out of the auditorium through various exits.

A dense crowd of black-haired heads squeezed together, making the air feel particularly stifling.

Zhang Lu Rang remained seated for a while, waiting for the crowd to thin before getting up and leaving.

    He returned to the classroom.

The previously empty seat beside him—vacant for the past two weeks—was finally occupied.

Zhang Lu Rang walked over and took a sip from his water bottle.

Zhou Xu Yin was organizing a pile of test papers in his desk drawer.

After a few minutes, he turned to Zhang Lu Rang and asked softly, “Do you know why I took leave?”

That day, Zhang Lu Rang had walked Zhou Xu Yin to the school gate.

Then, on his way back, he ran into Su Zai Zai.

And thus began the days of being constantly followed by her—for reasons still unknown to him.

    “I don’t know,” he answered.

He noticed that the crease between Zhou Xu Yin’s brows finally relaxed.

Judging from his reaction that day, he had probably been sick.

As for what illness it was, Zhang Lu Rang didn’t care to speculate.

Because he knew—everyone has things they don’t want others to know.

Back in the dormitory, Zhang Lu Rang first went to the balcony to wash up before heading to his locker.

    He checked his phone.

Seeing the missed call, he hesitated before dialing back.

After a few rings, the call was answered.

    “Ah Rang.”

    “Mm.”

“I heard from your uncle that you have midterms next week?”

Zhang Lu Rang walked to the balcony, closed the sliding glass door, and responded in a low voice, “Yeah.”

“Why don’t you ever call Mom?”

    “…”

“What was your rank in last month’s exams?”

Zhang Lu Rang fell silent for a moment, then quietly replied, “Thirty-second.”

A sigh came from the other end.

That one sigh squeezed his heart tight, making it hard to breathe.

After a while, the woman’s gentle voice sounded again.

“Is it still because of English? You’re just like A’Li… I’ll call your uncle later and ask him to find you a tutoring class, okay?”

“No need,” Zhang Lu Rang immediately rejected.

    The other end went quiet.

Zhang Lu Rang looked up at the distant sky.

As if resigning himself, he murmured, “I just can’t learn it.”

    “You…”

He interrupted her. “I just can’t learn it. Don’t waste your money.”

Then he hung up, running a hand through his hair.

Zhou Xu Yin had things he didn’t want others to know because he was too proud.

But Zhang Lu Rang was different.

His inferiority complex ran deep—deep into his very bones.

    He had struggled.

But in the end, he had simply accepted it.
