Chapter 37: The Interstellar Marshal Who Doesn’t Save the Female Lead

As soon as Jiujiu returned to the Heavenly Realm, the first thing he did was look for the snacks Star Lord had prepared for him. While munching on them, he looked at what his daddy would encounter in the next world.

In the previous world, he was quite fond of his little aunt. As he grew a little older and more sensible, he knew Jiujiu couldn’t carry her. She would also sneak behind grandma and daddy to bring him his favorite pastries.

Later, after she ascended the throne, she enthusiastically invited him to sleep on her dragon robe, but unfortunately, he preferred to stay with his daddy.

【Little Highness, Emperor Lord only has two worlds left to experience tribulation. Remember not to let Emperor Lord break his Dao Heart of ruthlessness.】

Jiujiu dabbed some fruit juice that splattered from his peach onto the note and pressed it down.

Many in the Heavenly Realm had reached a bottleneck in their cultivation but had no intention of going to the Mortal Realm to temper their Dao Heart through tribulation, fearing that what they encountered in the Mortal Realm would disrupt the foundation of their cultivation.

Putting these two together, it was really not worth it.

In the next world, his daddy was an Imperial Marshal, who appeared very little in the plot, only showing up for less than two chapters before his position was taken over by the male lead.

The Female Lead was an interstellar prisoner, confined on a Garbage Planet. One day, the planet suddenly mutated and might explode.

His daddy led his subordinates to rescue people. His daddy wanted to save the guards who watched over these prisoners first. Time was tight, and in his eyes, interstellar prisoners were not as important as innocent people who had done nothing wrong.

But the male lead publicly accused his daddy’s actions as too selfish, stating that even interstellar prisoners had the right to live.

Many of those accompanying them were the male lead’s people and agreed with his statement, rescuing all the prisoners. However, due to time constraints, two guards who watched the prisoners were not evacuated in time.

Upon returning to the Empire, the two people who were not brought out in time became Shen Yijing’s fault. Coupled with the Imperial Family’s long-standing dissatisfaction with Shen Yijing, he naturally lost his position as Marshal.

He was finally thrown by the very vengeful Female Lead onto the planet she used to be on, where he died after only two weeks.

The Marshal had old injuries from a battle he participated in years ago; otherwise, with his physical strength, he could have survived on the Garbage Planet.

Jiujiu threw it aside after reading, picking the best-looking large peach Star Lord had prepared for him, intending to give it to his dad as a gift.

First meeting, he hoped his dad would be nice to him.

“Marshal, this is the latest research result from the Research Institute, said to help you recover from your mental injuries.”

Jiujiu opened his eyes and looked around when he heard this, only to find that his front was covered by what seemed like a black cloth, with only faint light penetrating. Jiujiu, not convinced, pulled down the black cloth with his wings.

Shen Yijing, lying in bed receiving treatment, instinctively wanted to refuse when he heard this. Mental Power injuries have never had effective treatment methods throughout history.

Some treatments had very weak effects and were very expensive, which was too unworthy for him.

He even felt that instead of wasting these resources on himself, it would be better to save others, or even help others improve their strength, which would be much more useful and cost-effective than spending it on himself.

Jiujiu entered, holding his peach, and enthusiastically wanted to greet his dad.

“Hi, Daddy, I’m Jiujiu. Look at the gift I brought you.”

Shen Yijing, lying in the sickbed, heard the exceptionally tender and clear little chirping sound and subconsciously looked at the Little Chubby Bird that had voluntarily crawled out of the small cage.

It looked like a palm-sized bird, and from its appearance, besides the color, it was very similar to a Little Chubby Bird.

“Did he establish a mental connection with me? Why can I hear him speak?”

The staff member who brought the bird was also stunned for a moment upon hearing this. They had not heard any related descriptions before, but according to their previous experience, it should not be possible.

The Marshal wouldn’t lie about this matter. If this bird could really communicate with the Marshal now, it was probably bound unknowingly.

“Marshal, he has already established a connection with you. If you don’t want him, there’s no use for me to take him back.”

Jiujiu, clutching the large peach he brought, flew to his dad’s bed, temporarily placed the peach aside, and quickly scurried with his little claws, running over to rub his head against his dad’s cheek.

    “Daddy, snuggle.”

“How is he different from the ones from the Research Institute before?”

Shen Yijing now knew that even if he refused, it would be useless, so he turned his attention to other things about this Little Chubby Bird.

He looked quite well-behaved, but in reality, he didn’t seem that well-behaved. His beady eyes also gave a clever impression, making Shen Yijing can’t help but suspect if he was secretly plotting mischief.

Most of these animals from the Research Institute were very timid and afraid of people, only getting slightly better after establishing a connection with the person who needed treatment.

“Perhaps, it’s because this one is more outgoing.”

Shen Yijing reached out and rubbed his head. Jiujiu, realizing his dad was being affectionate, spread his two small wings and enveloped his dad’s hand.

    “Outgoing?”

The staff member also felt a bit awkward seeing this scene. Well, describing it as outgoing might be slightly inappropriate; this bird was simply too familiar.

“Marshal, there are still things at the Research Institute, so I’ll head back first. If you have any questions about this bird, you can always come and ask me.”

    “Okay.”

Only when it was just him and his dad in the room did Jiujiu remember the gift he had brought his dad from afar. He didn’t know where Star Lord picked this peach, but it tasted really good.

    “Daddy, look!”

Jiujiu, offering the peach like a treasure, was startled when he saw what he was clutching in his claws. The chick, who could stand very steadily on one claw before, fell there directly.

What should have been a fresh, large peach with thin skin and plenty of juice, now only had a fresh peach pit, looking like it had been gnawed very cleanly.

Shen Yijing didn’t notice anything unusual. He reached out and examined it carefully. Although he didn’t understand why this Little Chubby Bird would give him such a thing, he actually quite liked it himself.

    “Good, thank you.”

He took the peach pit and put it in his pocket, then played with the little bird. The instrument at the head of the bed that monitored his Mental Power had been beeping constantly before, warning of his poor condition.

But ever since this little bird arrived, the data displayed on the machine had gradually stabilized.

Shen Yijing couldn’t help but wonder when this thing researched by the Research Institute became so useful. If it could have been developed earlier, many people wouldn’t have been forced to leave.

Jiujiu was still immersed in the joy of his dad being so good in this world, spreading his body out like a chubby bird pancake, rubbing hard against his dad, completely unaware of his dad’s thought of wanting to use him to his full potential.

This time, Shen Yijing’s Mental Power went berserk because he encountered some danger at the last moment while performing a mission.

Previously, in such situations, it would take at least half a year of recuperation before he could return to new battles.

In the Empire, Marshal was the fastest-changing position. As long as one couldn’t withstand the pressure, they had to leave. Shen Yijing was the longest-serving Marshal among them.

That night, the doctor responsible for Shen Yijing came to examine him and unexpectedly found that not only was his Mental Power recovering well, but even the old injuries on his body showed signs of healing.

“Marshal, your physical condition is excellent.”

After saying this, the doctor recorded the data, firmly restraining his curiosity. Only after leaving the ward did he press his hand against his wildly beating heart.

He was really curious what Marshal had experienced to recover so well in such a short time.

He almost blurted out the question, but fortunately, reason controlled him. The Marshal’s secret was definitely not something ordinary people could know. If he asked too much, it might bring him some trouble.

That night, Jiujiu slept on his dad’s pillow, and in the middle of the night, his stomach suddenly rumbled with hunger. Before, he would eat a lot after returning to the Heavenly Realm, but this time, thinking of giving the freshest peach to his dad, he only ate a little.

    “What’s wrong?”

Shen Yijing’s sleep was always light. He had already opened his eyes when the little bird at the head of the bed tossed and turned.

    “Daddy, Jiujiu is hungry.”

Jiujiu quickly moved to sit on his dad’s chest, resting his head against his dad’s cheek, and began to whine pitifully, complaining to his dad about how hungry his little one was.

“What do you want to eat? Is nutrient solution okay?”

    “No, not okay.”

That night, Shen Yijing drank nutrient solution that helped with wound recovery and shared some with Jiujiu. Jiujiu only tasted a sip and was so disgusted by its strange herbal taste that he started rolling around.

“Then what do you want to eat? Rice?”

Natural plant rice was a bit expensive, but it was within his acceptable range.

“No, Jiujiu wants to eat rice, and also dishes.”

It was already midnight. Shen Yijing usually went to bed early, as the doctor advised it was good for his recovery.

Tonight, he felt something was off with his body, and Jiujiu’s listless and complaining look of hunger was too pitiful. Thinking of how much he had helped him, he lifted the covers and sat up.

“Wait for me to change, I’ll take you to the restaurant to eat.”

“Oh yeah, Daddy’s the best, love Daddy the most, Daddy come let Jiujiu peck you.”

Shen Yijing himself didn’t know why he didn’t correct the “Daddy” address. He was quite happy every time he heard him call him that in his little chirping voice.

“It’s fine to praise me, but no need to peck me.”

A tiny beak, one could tell it would definitely hurt to be pecked.
